BrainSmiths Introducing CloudHealth Hybrid

CloudHealth Hybrid brings together the functionality of CloudHealth Data Center and VMware vRealize Business for Cloud (vRBC) into a single standalone SaaS offering.

CloudHealth is also inviting customers to an early access program where they can try CloudHealth Hybrid’s support for VMware Cloud on AWS. This is an opportunity for big companies to check this new capability for VMware Cloud on AWS within CloudHealth. Before it’s generally available later this year. CloudHealth Hybrid extends CloudHealth’s public and multicloud optimization, governance, and security capabilities to the hybrid cloud. CloudHealth customers who also have data center resources can now incorporate their data center and hybrid cloud resources into their existing multicloud management and reporting, as well as use CloudHealth’s policy engine to enforce proper usage of public and hybrid cloud resources.

CloudHealth Hybrid offers important new capabilities for multicloud and hybrid cloud environments:

  • Detailed cost benchmarks and drivers. CloudHealth Hybrid includes advanced cost benchmarks and drivers which can customers use for visibility into all the cost and usage data for their hybrid cloud resources. To do this, CloudHealth captures and updates data on over 10,000 server configurations across multiple vendors and catalogs approximately 7 years of server data. These benchmarks include over 600 customer reference data points.
  • Early Access Program for VMware Cloud on AWS support. Just as CloudHealth provides cost optimization and governance for public clouds, CloudHealth Hybrid will offer the same capabilities for VMware vSphere and VMware Cloud on AWS environments.

Hybrid Cloud straddles the two worlds of decentralized IT (public clouds) and centralized IT (data center, private, and hybrid clouds). The value of including vSphere and VMware Cloud on AWS next to all the public clouds in CloudHealth is for organizations to be able to visualize and report on their entire cloud ecosystem in one place:

  • Organizations can incorporate VMware Cloud on AWS, public cloud, and vSphere cost and usage data in one management platform.
  • Administrators, cloud users, and financial analysts can gain a deeper understanding of actual VMware Cloud and data center cost drivers and can compare their costs to industry benchmarks.
  • Customers can plan migrations to different public clouds based on benchmark data as well as actual costs while optimizing their use of Reserved Instances.

The primary use cases for CloudHealth Hybrid center on optimization, migration assessment, cloud security, and governance. Cloud Health Hybrid can identify unused capacity, make better-informed migration decisions, and ensure secure and proper usage of hybrid cloud resources. Plus, it fosters collaboration between the distributed teams using public cloud services and the IT team managing data center and hybrid cloud resources. The introduction of CloudHealth Hybrid shows the commitment of VMware and CloudHealth to accelerating and optimizing our customers’ journey to multicloud and hybrid cloud.
